Custom report question

So i have a rather large schematic with over 40 diagram pages.

The default reports have a connector list i can generate but it comes up short because it does not tell me which Diagram that connector is on so my techs can find where its drawn quickly with paper copies.

So a couple questions.

Where is the Connector list report file hiding.

And what code do I add to get the Design listed by each conector?

And lastly why is there not just a nice pretty gui interface with check boxes of what I want in the order I wish to place it by collumn instead of doing this coding stuff. MG pretty much has it for all the stuff i can add to a custom wire name why not adapt that to an actual usable report generator?

SYMBOL SIZES

So I have a project with a symbol device on it and I tried copying it to another wire design and it went entirely out of wack. If I try to add in the symbol in this other wiring design through symbol components it appears really tiny. See LV 3.

So what special size peramater am i missing.. Both designs were done in mm.

Any ideas

Is it possible to change the size of grip points?

Rearranging wires would be quicker if it were easier to grab grip points.

Sharing Libraries

We are currently using VeSys 2.0 at three different locations within our company. Each site is set up with a separate license server and database. We would like to be able to share the database between all three sites. It is tough to send updates back and forth to make sure everyone has the same components and symbols. Is there a way to replicate the libraries at each site? In the past we haven't had much luck with replicating databases. Is there a good system for managing these?

I have a vendor that uses Capital and we use VeSys 2.0. Is there a way to import the xml file exported from Capital into VeSys?

I had a new engineer that got into our style sheets and accidentally erased (need to have a discussion with whoever gave him access) the "bottom-broken" param from the Plug Connector shape parameter. I tried to put it back into the shape parameters but am unable to select the the "bottom-broken" as a type. Where is the style saved when using vesys on a server. We are currently using 2011.1.SP1204.18 and have not upgraded because we are in middle of major risk and cannot afford the down time if something goes wrong. Can we add the parameter in manually into an XML file.

Invert mouse scroll

I have ProE users who are used to the inverted zoom with the scroll wheel.

Is it possible to invert the scroll wheel zoom in VeSys 2.0 to match the behavior in ProE?

Incorrect Wire Length in Harness

I have encountered an issue where (Processing) Calculated Wire/Multicore Lengths produces unexpected results. Wires are consistently 10" longer than the actual length.

Processing results at length of 18 for wire H2759 (should be 8).

Customer Options are defering to Project Preferences

Project Preferences are 0's

I can not account for the extra length. Any help will be appreciated.

Mass Replace Symbol using XML

I find that I have the need to replace a large amount of symbols in my Wiring Design with an updated version of the symbol.

Since it is currently not possible to select multiple identical symbols and replace them all at once, I have turned to XML editing to trick VeSys into getting what I want.

However, I am puzzled with some of the lines in the Wiring Design XML.

I have identified devices as having a symbolref and a compositeblock. For the most part these two will have identical UIDs.

To replace a symbol do I only have to replace the UID under a devices symbolref and compositeblock?

What does it mean if a device has multiple symbolrefs or multiple compositeblocks?

Wire Material Selection Dialogue

Capital Bridge export problem

We are exporting NWF data from VeSys design and using it to route wires in Pro/e. When we export the resulting Pro/e cabling data using the bridge and import into VeSys 2.0 harness the wire names are not showing up on the correct pins for connectors that have one or more cavities with no wire routed to it. For every empty cavity the wire names gets shifted off by 1 pin. The problem seems to be that that the CABLE_NAME parameter on the connector pin is <nonexistent>. If I manually go in and "create" the missing parameters with <No Value> the import into VeSys Harness works fine. Is there a way to get the NWF file to create an empty CABLE_NAME parameter for blank cavities or is there another solution to this problem?

The table for this connector will look like this in VeSys Harness.

Stroke Actions vs. Pan

Is it possible to change the middel mouse button from using Stroke Actions to just panning through a page.

Or could we possible edit the stroke actions to do what we want?

I think the Stroke actions are pretty neat, but frankly the older engineers are going to be pretty grumpy when they try to pan through a document and find this...

Representation of a stud embedded into a power distribution module

Hi All,

I want to work with a power distribution module (PDM) and I am thinking how to represent it in VeSys. The fist idea which came to my mind is to represent it as a connector but there is one obstacle: the PDM contains a stud (a bus bar). I don't know how to represent it in the schematic and harness design.

Does anybody have such experience and/or suggestions? I read the information about representing ring terminals on a stud but this is not my case.

Canvas Dimensions

Hello,

When I open new harness desing or wiring diagram the empty canvas comes in a specific columns and rows. Rows from 1 to 10 and columns from A to O.

Most of the time the rows are anough but the columns are definitely not enough in large designs. While opening the project no choices are offered regarding this. I tried to check layout and view options but couldn´t reach any solution,neither in the various user pdf files. I searched under the name canvas and canvas dimensions and maybe using these words is not right.

Where can I adjust this canvas size? And is it possible to change this canvas size of the already opened project?

If this is already explained could you direct me to the link?

Problem about auto naming the objects in an order.

Hello,

I have a problem about the auto naming of an object. As I add wires or device to the design, VeSys names it as Wire1,Wire2,Wire3...and so on. But for example when I delete the 4th wire and add new one, VeSys names the new one as Wire5. When there is a large number of updating, these unorder numbering would be a problem.

Is there anyway to correct this and keep VeSys names the wires in an order after we delete the last one?

PS: I added the printscreen of thw wirelist. As it can be seen, it comes up to wire23 in an order but after that the naming is not consecutive.

Wire Lengths change when going from Classic to 2.0

After importing a dsi file and running the "Calculate Wire/Multicore Lengths" the wire lengths are all larger by a couple mm's.

If I change the "Length Change Type" of every wire from "Neither" to "Absolute" then the correct lengths are calculated.

This leads me to beleive that I am missing a setting somewhere to always use the "Absolute" Length Change Type.

Is there a setting in VeSys Classic to export the wire lengths as "Absolute" length change types?

Or is there a way to set the Harness Design in VeSys 2.0 to use only "Absolute" length change types?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For example:

CP-0413-204-2005 is Internal P/N

and

0413-204-2005 is Manufacturer's P/N

Phantom Parts?

I am trying to maintain our Vesys Components and have found a some color codes, customers, and even components that I can not delete because it is used somewhere or by something I can not find.

Is there another way to look with the library that is more comprehensive?

Currently, I open Vesys 2.0 Components to delete or modify the libraries.

I can provide a very specific example if needed.

Please advise.

How do I populate the information in Edit bundle in Vesys Harness.

So as you can see from the attached file I have a whire from splice SP59 with 4 wires in it

When I want to see the properties of that section of the bundle it has the length, but none of the wire information appears.

The point to point information is inserted correctly as the lenths are calculated and the wires are placed in the BOM

So how do I get it to populate in the bundle information so i can see the number of wires and width information?

Calculating multicore length error

Multicore MC184 inner-cores contain no common section, cannot calculate length.

So what exactly does this mean. I have parts feeding the multicore they populate into the harness, I have the wires hooked up it has to from information. So what exactly is it confused about adding the distances inbetween?

Auto Merge Circuits after Ctrl+Shift+V

I have copied a couple of large drawings via Ctrl+Shift+V from one design into another. In the orginal design, there are some crossed reference circuits, but in the copy, all the links are broken, but the circuit names are identical. Is there a better process then right click and "Merge Into" to re-link the each circuit?

Or is there a better way to copy one design into another and maintain the links?

lock the position of tables

Every time I apply a style to the Harness Drawings I have, all the tables are shifted to their original position determined by style.

Is it possible to move the tables only manually, without being taken to the original position by applying a style?

define a connector when creating ECU

Hi All.

I am trying to build a device which has an inbuilt plug connector (ECU for example). I can assign pins to a symbol but how do I define a plug connector inside this symbol so that I will be able to connect a socket connector to it in the schematic?
