Hi All,
I would like to know, if anyone else is interested in a separate area inside the community, where we can discuss all the automation stuff.
In the EE Flow we already use automation for CES, DxD and Expedition. It would be great when we could exchenge experiences and maybe share or develop common code to improve the software.
regards,
Andreas
Hi Andreas, here I am.
I start only recently to develop a little application to fill Expedition Title Blocks.
I'm not an experienced programmer but step by step I wish to create a set of programs to automate my job flow.
Regards
Bortolo
Hi Bortolo,
Automation is the only way to get some flow steps combined in a process. If you are interested in more examples one is the Expedition PCB installation dir (see manual).
The other is the Auto Active Toolkit 4.0 on Sourceforge you probably will know as a MUG member.
Kendall Hiles from MGC has shown me on the last U2U in San Jose and it was very inspiring.
There you will find a huge collection of ideas an approaches, but you will need to chang them for your requirements.
I'm sure we can not share real big projects here in the community (IP stuff) but for sure smaller ones can be shared somehow.
We all should be able to participate from others experiences.
regards,
Andreas
Hi Andreas,
I already know these documents and I start to study AATK from version 3.
I developed some programs for my own use ( PCB Project manager and something like MOV / CAMOUT, automatic documentation , gerber verification and so on.. ) in VB6 to automate my job ( without using Automation layer right now )
My job is PCB Designer and I'm not a skilled sw developer so developing is slowly ( when I have time, after dinner at home
)
Thanks
Bortolo
I support the idea of an automation sub-community.
Mike
I would support this as well. I believe this is a very good suggestion.
Mike B
I think this is an outstanding idea.
Thanks
Chris
Hello everybody,
More than a year since Andreas Schaefer suggested to establish a community, dedicated for automation.
Since I started now to learn and write some simple programs, it is my interest too, to take part in such a group.
So, where is it? Promise to take part...
Moshe.
+1
Andreas,
I support your idea and would like to suggest, request, that the community also invite PADS flow, besides EE.
The community including PADS becomes significantly larger. PADS in many configurations uses DxD as a front end.
And the changes from DxD 2.5 to 2.7 are similar.
I will do my share by suggesting to PADS users that the view and visit that site.
In last e-mail Cathy suggests the use of already existing community. Is that where we should guide questions.?
Andy.
Yes, I would suggest the existing Automation & Scripting community on http://communities.mentor.com/mgcx/community/pcb/design_tasks/automation_scripting. That design area is not intended to be flow-specific. In fact there is a small number of PADS-specific scripts already posted. See http://communities.mentor.com/mgcx/docs/DOC-1363 .
