The Mentor Graphics Displaced Worker Program offers complimentary training to qualified workers in the EDA industry on a space-available basis. Check out the program summary to learn what to expect.
Hello Christine,
Yes, I joined a few days ago, and I wonder how to find out if I've been accepted into the program and when I can begin training. I'll keep pinging DWP just to make sure my application doesn't fall through the cracks.
This is an excellent forward-thinking strategy on the part of Mentor-Graphics Corporation. What better way to sell their tools than to have an army of trained, grateful and loyal experts in their tools ready for when the economy rebounds (as it always does).
Have a great 4th of July.
Cheers,
Bob P.
Hello Bob P.
Sorry for my delay, I just realized my notification of new posts in this community was set to off instead of on. Normally I receive an email when someone asks a question.
I'm glad you are registered for the program and hope we can get you into a class soon. Below is a list of the courses we offer the most frequently. If you requested one of these classes may be placed in a class sooner than requests for classes we run less often. It's usually about 3 weeks prior to a scheduled class that we will contact displaced worker program participants regarding any available open seats.
Hope that helps. And best of luck on your job search!
Christine

Hello Christine,
Oops! You said: "Below is a list of the courses we offer the most frequently" but I don't see a link to the courses or an attachment. Can you point me to them?
Thanks,
Bob P.
Thanks, Bob, for letting me know. I think it's posted there now.
Christine
Thanks, Christine,
The one I want is "SystemVerilog for Verification" preferably on-line live or even archived. I'm an expert with analog behavioral modeling and now while between jobs it's an excellent time to plant a foot on the digital side of the fence.
What's my next step to enroll?
Cheers,
Bob P.
Hi Bob,
If you haven't already registered for the program, you can find the registration link on this page:
http://www.mentor.com/training_and_services/training/dwp/
Check out the "How the Program Works" section.
Thanks,
Christine
Hi Christine,
I registered for the program on July 1 and received the following message from community_registration@relay1.mentorg.com
A Community registration request has been submitted on the Mentor Graphics Community web site.
To verify and activate the request, please click on the link below:
https://communities.mentor.com/registration/comreg/verify?actv=com1246500515__Peruzzi_IEEE.org
At the time I responded through the link and all was well. I didn't hear anything further so I followed up with some friends at Mentor Graphics. They helped me contact, and then I had an email conversation with Brian Wineland:
From Brian:
Robert,
Thank you for signing up for the Displaced Worker Program. What classes are you interested in taking. You can review the courses on our website here:
http://www.mentor.com/training_and_services/training/courses/
From me:
Hello Brian,
Thanks very much for responding. I think the best course for me to start with would be SystemVerilog for Verification Live Online Training but I’d like your opinion.
From Brian:
Absolutely, we need to get you enrolled in SV first. Today I tried to revisit my application to see if all is well but I couldn't find it. Not surprisingly, the link above no longer works. But I did fill in my profile for the community. Maybe all is indeed well and all I need to do is wait to be contacted, but I have a nagging doubt that I've left something out of my registration and application. Call it paranoia if you'd like, but would you please help me confirm that I've completed all of my steps? Thanks very much, Bob P.
Christine,
The bottom lines of my posting were chopped off.
I have been trying to check my registration and application for completeness, and to add my chosen class, but I haven't been able to find it. I did however, fill in my profiled.
Would you kindly help me find and check it? I'm not sure at what point I can sit and wait for a response.
Thanks again,
Bob P.
Hi Bob,
I believe you have received an email from one of our Education Services Reps to confiirm you are indeed in the program and some information about an upcoming class that might potentially be a fit for you. If you did not receive such an email today, let me know and I'll forward it to you.
thanks,
Christine
Hi Christine,
I registered for the displaced worker program today. How long would it take for someone to contact me on classes? Is there some way of finding out when these courses start?
Thanks
Sunil
Hello Sunil,
It depends on how often we run the class you are requesting, space available in the classes, as well as whether other people have requested the class before you. A list of frequently run classes is availble, along with a link to the course schedule. Hope this helps.
Good luck with your job search and let me know how it goes.
Christine
Hi Christine,
Is the displaced worker program still on? I havent gotten any calls about classes. I did check the public schedule for classes and was interested in 1 or 2 of them, but it asks for payment for those courses.
Thanks
Sunil
Hi Sunil,
Yes, the program is still running. Based on this post, I have asked our internal team to check on the status of your request. You should receive a direct email with a status.
Thanks,
Christine
Hi Christine,
I still havent received a direct email with the status.
Thanks
Sunil
Hi Sunil,
Just to close the loop on your open question, I now see your name on the Displaced Worker program training request list. Hopefully we will be able to contact you with an open seat in a training class soon.
Christine
I have registered and (I think) I have been accepted for the Displaced Worker Program.
I have looked at the long list of courses offered. I have decided upon the two I want.
I now need to know the site where I request these two courses. I don't think I should
be using the normal course registration site where one agrees to give Credit Card info
Am I missing something in the process? Can someone offer advice?
Thanks,
L Buschelman
Hi L Buschelman,
I'm going to check the registration list and make sure you are on it. I should have feedback for you later today.
Thanks,
Christine
Hello again L Buschelman,
I can see your program registration. If you wish to respond to the email I sent you this afternoon we will update our records with your course requests. If you don't see an email from me (christine_egli at mentor.com), please reply to this message so we can determine next steps.
thanks,
Christine
Hi Christine,
Can you tell me if this program still exists and how much does it cost for each course ?
Thanks,
Ravi
