How to verify and install/fix hardware key drivers in PADS

    What type of hardware key (aka dongle) do I have?

     

    NOTE: Starting with PADS9.5 the CPLUS and SSI/Pink parallel port hardware keys have been discontinued, and in some cases the Sentinel key also (depends on the operating system). For more details:

    Mentor Graphics ships numerous types of hardware keys. Below is a list of  hardware key types and how to determine which kind you have received:

     

    Type of Dongle

    How do I verify or install dongle keys?

     

    USB/Aladdin and Sentinel keys:

     

    PADS9.1 and newer:

     

    Run the following Start Menu Shortcut:

     

         Start > Programs > Mentor Graphics SDD > PADS Licensing Assistance > Test and Install Hardware Key Drivers

     

    Click the Test button to the right of the key that you are using (Aladdin/USB Key or Sentinel/Parallel Key) to see if any keys are detected. A popup will appear with any detected FLEXID values, as seen in the screen-shot below.

    PADS2007.4 to PADS9.0.2:

     

    Run the following Start Menu Shortcut:

     

    Start > All Programs > Mentor Graphics SDD > PADS Licensing Assistance > Check if Hardware Key is Detected

    If the hardware key is detected, the FLEXID value will appear under the Listing FLEXID hardware keys detected section as shown below:

    If no FLEXID value, or an error, appears reinstall the USB or parallel  port (FLEXID) drivers. To do so refer to instructions in TechNote MG66657 on SupportNet, or click on the shortcut below (links to TechNote MG66657):

    SSI/Pink Key:

     

    Run the "SSI Key Diagnostics" shortcut, found at the below start menu location:


    PADS2007.4 through PADS9.4.1*:

    Start > Programs > Mentor Graphics SDD > PADS Licensing Assistance > Advanced Licensing Tools > SSI Key Diagnostics

     

    *Note: SSI/Pink keys are no longer supported starting with PADS9.5.

     


    PADS2005 SPac2 through PADS2007.3:

    Start > Programs > Mentor Graphics SDD > PADS<version> >Licensing Tools > SSI Key Diagnostics


    A DOS/Command prompt window should appear, and report the 16 character value of the Pink key.

     

    For example: 1336941403314316, as seen in the screen-shot below

    NOTE: The 16 character value can also be obtained from the label on the key. There will be 4 blocks of text with 4 characters in each block. See below example:

    CPLUS Key: 

     

     

    PADS9.0 through PADS9.4.1*:

     

    Run the following Start Menu Shortcut:

    Start > Programs > Mentor Graphics SDD > PADS Licensing Assistance > Advanced Licensing Tools > Check if CPLUS Key is Detected

     

    *Note: CPLUS keys are no longer supported starting with PADS9.5

     

     

    PADS2007.4 and older:


    Download the attached checkCPLUSid.zip file. Unzip the contents of the ZIP file and double-click the checkCPLUSid.bat file to display the host ID of the CPLUS hardware key (if detected).
