How to use layer as check region for DRC when layer exists (If layer does not exist, check everywhere)

LAYOUT WINDOW LAYER satisfies this need if you want to affect all selected checks. One way to think of it is as a substitute for LAYOUT WINDOW, when you wish to describe the window(s) using a layer instead of coordinates.

Alternatively, if you need something that would be used by some checks and not all, or just for derivation of certain layers, then the following example may be of interest:

// Create a derived layer by subtracting the special layer from the extent.

// Check the derived layer for interaction with the special layer

// (it may or may not have existed in the first place)

// and if it indeed interacts,

// use this final layer as an exclusionary layer.

// for example:

layer CHECK_REGION 1 // substitute layer number actually used

BULK = EXTENT

POSS_EXCL = BULK not CHECK_REGION

POSS_EXCL = BULK not CHECK_REGION

EXCL_REGION = POSS_EXCL interact CHECK_REGION

METAL_2CHECK = METAL not inside EXCL_REGION
