How to produce a parasitic netlist that you can simulate while using VIRTUAL  CONNECT in the LVS and parasitic extraction flow.

 

Distributed parasitic  extraction with Calibre xRC does not automatically connect multiple disjoint fragments of  parasitic net models.

 

To produce a netlist that does not leave disjoint parasitic net model fragments  unconnected:

 

In releases prior to v2009.1 use the environment  variable:

 

     setenv PEX_FMT_CHECK_NET_FRAGMENTS ON

 

In releases  v2009.1 and following use the SVRF rule file statement:

 

     PEX NETLIST  VIRTUAL CONNECT YES

 

These settings look for disjoint fragments in a net  model and connects them so that

the resulting RC tree structure of the  parasitic net model is fully intact and can be simulated.

 

The connection  between the disjoint parts of the RC parasitic net model is made with a small

resistor between the two nearest nodes on each of the disjoint segments of the  net model.
