How to Convert Copper Area to Plane Area

Hi

I have an issue in Layout.  I created a copper area and assigned it a VCC net on an inner layer.  The inner layer is defined as Mixed/Split Plane.  I realize that I should have defined the copper area as plane area instead.  When I go into the drafting properties of this shape, I see that the dropdown where I can change Copper Area to Plane Area etc, is grayed out.  All I can do is change the net.  The shape of this copper area is really complex and I would hate to draw it out again as Plane Area.  Is there something that I am doing wrong in changing the Copper Area to Plane Area?

The Copper Area shape has various cutouts to make room for other planes.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
