    Save Custom Sheet Border Template

    swico

I have a sheet template from AutoCad and imported it as DXF into DxDesigner. Does anyone know how I can save this as a sheet border template?

If you import this into the symbol editor then you can name it and save it as a border type symbol in your library. Alternatively you can see whether it has been saved as a local symbol bu looking in Databook or Search and if so you can export it as a symbol.

I already tried your alternative option: I made the border a local symbol and then placed it in the schematic. The problem was that every time I tried to select a symbol inside the schematic it would select the border symbol, and I would have to double or triple click repeatedly to select the symbol in the schematic. It got very annoying to do that, so I deleted the border symbol from the schematic for the time being.

My question is how exactly do you save it as a border type symbol in your library? Can you please provide a detailed procedure that explains that?

This depends on what version you are running. In VX.2.2 and later you need to make the symbol a 'Border' Type - from the Properties Pane in the symbol editor. Releases earlier than VX.2.2 they should be 'annotate' type symbols. If you are running a version that still shows thew symbol bounding box you need to make the bounding box a small rectangle in the left corner to avoid selection issues.Border.PNG

hi Robert, I don't see that option. In the picture below, you'll see that in the 'SymbolEdit' Window Layout, the Properties Pane doesn't pop up when I try to open it.

When I try to do the same thing in the 'Default' Window Layout, the 'Symbol Type' property does not appear as an option.

                I am running version 2.3

Nevermind, I figured it out! I realized you have to open Symbol Editor from the Library Manager; I was editing a local symbol from the main schematic.
