Select the shape and then <right-click> to display the properties. Change the type to 'copper' or 'copper pour' and then you can select the net you want it to connect with. I suggest the same net as the vias that are inside the shape!
You need to be in ECO mode to add a net (or connection) in Layout.
thanks for your reply ,but in my case a new net need to add between resistor pin2 to shape i followed your observation but i could not add the net between shape and resistor package ,i could not add via in this copper shape please solve my problem

You don't want me to solve your problem... I don't work for Mentor so I'm too expensive!
First, make sure you have a via in your shape:
Set your selection filter to 'Select shapes'
Select the shape you want to connect to
<right-click> select net
<right-click> 'add via' and place a via in the shape
Now connect the resistor to the via
Select the 'ECO toolbar'
Select the 'Add connection' tool
Click your unconnected resistor pad (it will highlight and show a connection line when you move the cursor)
Click on the via in the 'bottom_strip1' shape
You now have the resistor connected to the via in the 'bottom_strip1' shape.
On your other topic, you need to ask a specific question (How to use rules - set up a rule!). You set up all the rules in the <Setup><Design Rules> section. If you want to match lengths, you need to set up a group first. If a button is grayed out you don't have that option licensed. Mentor may have implemented a lot of fixes to the rules since 2005 so you might run into some hurdles there too. I try to keep my rules simple when I can (i.e. when i'm not working on a high speed design).
i tried my self but i could not connect the shape with resistor package i mention in JPEG file(like that only i need ) .how to connect the pad with shape with new net please help any one !!!!!!!!
is it possible to meet this above condition in PADS Router

You can do that in ECO tool bar and click on add connection
but i could not do that i am using PADS 2005 pleasepost the procedure
The techniques described above are for Layout. I'm not sure how you would do it in Router.
Thanks for reply.through PADS Roter i added via in shape still i could not connect the via with unused pin in PADS i followed above condition.
