How can I tell what version of FLEXnet is currently installed?
Run lmutil lmver lmgrd on the command line in the directory where the license manager resides gives you the flexlm version. Also lmutil lmver mgcld gives you the version of the vendor daemon. Best practice is to make sure the lmgrd and mgcld are built on the same version of flexlm. Here is an example -
C:\ License Manager>lmutil lmver lmgrd
lmutil - Copyright (c) 1989-2011 Flexera Software, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
FLEXnet Licensing v184.108.40.206 build 96515 i86_n3 (lmgr.lib), Copyright (c) 1988-2

I don’t have a directory called License Manager, how can I determine where the license manager resides?
It is where you installed the license manager and it can be called anything you like. If you don’t know then do a search for lmutil on your machine.
I appear to have several locations for lmutil, does it matter which one?
It should be the one where mgcld resides.
OK, that narrowed it down a little.
I arranged the search results by file date and tried to use the first location that had both files and I get the error below.
In a command/dos prompt did you try changing to the directory where the files reside?
OK, that worked, thank you for your help.
I don’t know why everything has to be so difficult with this software.
