it worked very well for me
Great Script! I've been using BMP2ASC for many years and still use it often today, however this is a little easier and does not require DOS. The layer drop down selection is grayed out and does not allow me to select a specific layer, it defaults to L26. Also, it appears to combine the lines, which in some instances may take some time and requires uncombining if I need to do some editing. Great job on the script, and than you for sharing it!
Thanks Dave! I left the destination layer out because you can easily move it after importing in Layout to any layer you wish. But in the end, I implemented this feature so I updated the file in the initial post.
An yes it combines lines (unlike BMP2ASC) so that you can easily select the entire shape and move it were you want. Indeed, if you need to do further editing uncombining is necessary.
It's a great work!
I modified some line to disable the layer selection drop box, for compatibility issue with PADS 2007.4, and changed the output ASCII line from 9.0 to 2007.4.
Thanks for sharing
Awesome script! Great work.

This works well in the latest PADS VX.1 release. (I noticed the last affirmative post was nearly a year ago.)
Works great with VX.1.2 !!! Many thanks for posting your script!! For the people who have not used scripts before (including myself), you will click on: Tools->Basic Scripts->Basic Script Editor. Select OPEN, and click the "Img2Layout.BAS" you downloaded in the original post above. Click the START symbol and follow the instructions. I am sure there are other ways to run this, but this way work fine for me (you can copy the script into the area searched by PADS and have it handy for the next time you need it). Many thanks to bradu!
