Is there really a need for a script?
If so, try writing one that opens Display Control on the opening of the design. It's all right there in Display Control.
thanks. I am looking for a script. I plan to add to it. This is just the first step but everytime I try to report out the layers I get error messages and not sure how to go about it.

Here's something to start with:
Dim msg : msg = ""
Dim iLayerCount : iLayerCount = pcbDoc.LayerCount
Dim I, cl
For I = 1 To iLayerCount
Set cl = pcbDoc.LayerStack(False).Item(I)
msg = msg & I & ": " & cl.LayerProperties.StackupLayerName & ": " & cl.LayerProperties.Description & vbCrLf
This assumes you have the pcbDoc variable already set and the document licensing validated.
This retrieves conductor layers only, if you need the dielectrics as well, pass True to the LayerStack property.
Thanks to both of you. This info is just what I needed. I plan to add on to this to keep track of my designs and my scripts that I read in for specific designs.
