import ascii pcb file in altium ,in 3D view you have the same result.
You are right. It could be cool.
Maybe add it as an idea on Mentor Ideas website.
The closest I can get in PADS is by manipulating the colours.
See attached picture.
Funny - more and more people are referring to Altium if we want to do cool things.....!

Just interesting you mention Altium for cool stuff like this, never mind just a PDF, in all honesty Altium blows PADS/Mentor away with both price & performance
when comes to any 3D/MCAD interface. If you want to be able to interface as nicely as Altium with your MCAD system it will cost you a bundle
with PADS with Altium it's part of the tool period. Hope Mentor is listening on this! Interesting also even on the MCAD tool side the module that has to be bought
for either SolidWorks or ProE is half the price of what Mentor is charging for the interface in PADS.
I use Altium only as 3D tool for Pads.
I design everything in Pads and then import ascii in Altium only for 3D.
The 3D is the only valid thing that altium has. For the rest (routing placement ecc), pads has few rivals.
Altium isn't one of them.
I would tend to agree, just sending a message to Mentor.
If we had Altium here I would do the same thing.
PADS is our main tool here.
Used Expedition for quite a number of years before this.
