    DFM/DFA rules

I'm looking for a written source of DFA/DFM rules.

I've been teaching layout and PADS to a younger engineer over the last month or so.  The part regarding the use of the tool has gone well, however, he's challenging every best practice, rule of thumb, and design rule that I've picked up over the last 20 years and I unfortunately can't seem to trace many of them back to a written source.  Has anyone seen a master list online somewhere?

I believe a lot of the  "rules of thumb" we live by were derived from what was written in the old MIL-STD-275. Most of that data was migrated to IPC-2221 and IPC-2222.

You can also explain to your protege that many of the 'rules of thumb' in common use are the result of past experience(s) (sometimes painful) that tell us what works and yields successful results that allow our fabricators and assemblers to provide a quality product that meets our needs.
