I do not know any tool support at this point. I would recommend to use the API.
But be aware, if you work with text in Expedition, always the bounding box is what you get.
Allegro support this feature. Because We used to Allegro, so our designers request this feature. It's acceptable if component be hilighting while Ref text be bounding with rectangle ,and all keep in it's status(hilighted and bounding) after clicking the component. I found that UserPrefsDb.upf control this behavior, but I don't know how to customized the .upf. The question to me is if we can translate it to ASCII format and modified and reformat to binary? I logged this SR in the supportent and Mentor CSE said it can't be translated to ASII format.
U found a example .upf. If you copy it to \config directory and open the desing, you will find all ref texts will be bounding and keeping in it's status by clicking the text, but you can't hilight the compoent again.
In Display Control, Parts tab, check Placement Outlines.
In draw mode, selecting text will highlight both text and part outlines.
Thank you. We know this, but it can't permanently hilght both text and comp body.
