    how to retain Maximum layer count in Library in PADS ??

      Hi everyone,

      i created decal in pads l. unfortunately,i assigned Maximum layer count.but i need to disable it.so is it possible ??Capture.JPG

          I only know of a manual solution - Export the decal.  Use a text editor to change the layer numbers.  Import the edited file.

            Here i posted exported for decal DBF_277P_9P .i could not find the layer numbers,can you check and let me know how to delete the layer ??

              126 in "OPEN   2 0.1524 126 -1" indicates layer number, you might have a shape in the silkscreen top layer, change all the instances like these and try importing

                You can follow the below method as well

                write an ascii file containing the part name which you want to convert to Normal layer mode like below

                 

                !PADS-POWERPCB-V10.0-MILS! DESIGN DATABASE ASCII FILE 1.0

                *part*

                U1 TP_MAX

                *end*

                 

                save the file with .asc extension and import it in normal layer mode, once the decals are placed in the layout , save them to the library.

                  Hi sravan kumar,

                  i replaced  layer 126  as 27.i found in layer defintion " layer is decreased " but it is not enabled Maximum layer and i could not understand the .asc file which you mention in above reply.is i need to add in (.d)file or seperally ??

                    You really need to understand the ASCII format first.  Look at Ppcb_ASCII.pdf. 

                     

                    You need to change all of the following layers:

                     

                    121 to 21

                    126 to 26

                    128 to 28

                    130 to 30

                     

                    And then import the decal back into a library.  Hint, don't to this in Word and then save it in ASCII (txt) format; something gets corrupted.  I did it in Notepad and had better results:

                    Note that you have to do this manually and very carefully, otherwise you might change a '121' that is not a layer definition and then you've corrupted the decal.
