    Import wire lengths from MCAD

    Catherine

      Hi,

Can VeSys harness import and use the connectivity length information from MCAD?

      Cheers,

      Catherine

          Hi Catherine,

Only VeSys Design can interface with 3D-MCAD systems, wire lengths in VeSys Harness are determined by the drawn layout of the harness + the engineering calculations for each wire.

          Thanks,

          Nuri

              Hi Catherine,

The MCAD exports will be purely wire length and so to reverse engineer the harness bundle/segment lengths from this data is in most cases an impossible task.  VeSys has the abilty can draw a complete harness from a data file such as a hxf file or dsi file and so the problem is really down to the poor output from the 3D MCAD systems in that they do not export bundle geometry data.  As you probably know CHS has the ability to interface with the 3D MCAD systems ONLY because Mentor Graphics have written an Add-On to the 3D MCAD to extract this data.
