has anyone done this before? Are there any hints to avoid tripping hazards?
Documentation seems to ne sparsely...
We use DxDatabook for the connection to our PLM software. But we do not use TC but Omnify.
What do you want to do in detail?
We are using DMS, instead of DxDatabook
Our goal is to implement the whole ECAD flow into TC, for the following reasons:
- better ECAD / MCAD collaboration
- BOM for the complete device, not just the PCB
- requirement engineering & tracing
Seems to be pioneer work
Ok, I understand. In our case, the interface between ECAD and PLM is a simple text BOM that we import. Also MCAD exports to the PLM through an ASCII based file. Then everything else (workflows, tracing, BOM management) is done within the PLM system.
And yes you are right, sometimes it seems so amazing that there is no better out of the box solution o_O
When you are finished with all that can I come along and have a look? (-:
Actually your are several steps ahead, as we have some major issues to get everything running. Maybe I need to have a look first
Do you use the solution from SPLM or XPLM?
SPLM or XPLM I do not know, we use Omnify from OmnifySoft.
I did not know DMS before, looks like it is used for Partslists/BOMs and a lot of other tasks, too. Seems kind of hard to get a good transition between ECAD (DMS) and PLM (TC), isn't it? I mean, maybe this is the problem, that there is no clear border between your ECAD with DMS on the one side and your TC on the other side.
We are driving to similar effort with integration DxDesigner/Expedition with Team Center 11.2.
Did you achieve success and got the integration complete.
Best Regards, Arjun
unfortunately we had several major issues, as the EDA client 2.0 does _not_ work out of the box, with TC 11.2 and EE7.9.5.
I can send you the summarization, so you can see where the blocking points are, if you like.
I heard something about a changed interface using the new EDA client, together with VX.
We will give it a try this spring.
Glad to hear back from you. Are you working with any Siemens PLM consultants?
So can you please summarize us the issues that you ran into while you tried integrating TC 11.2 and EE7.9.5.
We initially had planned to get Vx1 but heard that it had multi bug fixes and Vx2 is a much better release.
But I checked out the TC compatibility matrix and see its Vx2 is only planned with EDA 2.0.2 release.
I would like any help to get more information on EE7.9.5 not very friendly in integration with ED and TC11.
it is hard to get a PLM consultant who is familiar with TC & the EDA client.
The summarization I have is a commented PDF file (PLM 00087 2.0) - will this help you?
EDA 2.0.2 is available and is also suitable for VX2. The integrations matrix is not up to date.
But the guy who maintains the matrix (Pascal Vera) confirmed EDA 2.0.2 is suitable for VX2.
Are you going to test EDA 2.0.2 yourself? If yes, when approximately?
We are exploring yet. Our goal is to have the integration accomplished by mid of this year as TC 11 is already in use for MCAD workflow and release. But have not yet decided on Expedition version. We are currently on EE7.9.3. So I was not yet sure as I saw the matrix got from TC documentation and realized that Vx2 is still not compatible. Was planning to upgrade to EE7.9.5 and use that for integration. Now with this information from you on Vx2 compatible with ED2.0.2. I have to look back into it.
Can you send me any Matrix like that which states the same published by PLM.
Are you doing the integration with TC11 and Vx2?
Thank you, Arjun
