Am using pads Standard currently, But i was using Pads 9.5 earlier. My query is " Can i use pads 9.5 environment in Pads Standard".
Is there any backward scalability.
What do you mean by " Can i use pads 9.5 environment in Pads Standard".?
If a design has gone forward to PADS Standard (VX.1.n) then it cannot go back to PADS 9.5. But you can switch back to a PADS 9.5 environment should you need to for other designs rather than migrate them forward.
Thank you for the reply robert. I can explain you my need in short and understandable way.
I was using 9.5, now i feel like upgrading to pads standard, so here the pads standard license file will be varied for 9.5 i hope.
So i got doubt is " CAN I USE 9.5 & PADS STANDARD USING PADS STANDARD LICENSE".
Reason behind this is some of my customer who uses 9.5 requires the design done in 9.5 & few require PADS Standard design.
You can use it however you will need to update all instances of mgc.pkginfo in the Pads 9.5 install folder with the most recent copy from supportnet so the 9.5 version of the software will recognize the padsstd_c license feature.
Thank you for your quick reply. From you reply, I understand that there is a default "mgc.pkginfo" that gets installed when we run the set-up of Pads 9.5. This "mgc.pkginfo" will not recognize the PADSSTD_C feature, so you advice us to look for the latest "mgc.pkginfo" from supportnet and replace the old file with this new one.
Once this is done, will we be able to switch back between PADS 9.5 and Vx.1 ?? Thanks once again for your support
Correct, you will be able to use Pads 9.5 once mgc.pkginfo is updated, I had a similar situation using Pads 9.41 instead and once the file was updated 9.41 ran just fine with the new license feature. You can check technote MG504224 for more information about how to do this.
