We use GerbTool without issues. Anytime I do have any issues with an ODB++ viewer, I load the ODB++ data in the viewer that Jackie mentioned
The same issue we are facing in the Valor tool ,we can not import the new version of ODB++ in the Valor vSure 9.0.1 ,but the higher version of viewer can read all version of ODB++ .
Anybody knows the ODB Version down converter tool to solve this ? Also how we can understand the ODB version from the input file ?
Thanks and Regards
This is starting to bring back some memories from a couple of years ago I can't remember what version of Expedition it was, but they started exporting version 8 of the ODB++ standard. In order to read this newer version of the ODB++ standard you need Valor NPI 9.4 or later. I do not know of any down converter, so you may want to contact support or upgrade your version of Valor.

I think I am confusing when Mentor went from Version 6 to Version 7. I guess we have been generating version 7 files for a while and have not tried exporting version 8 until today. Version 16.7 and newer of Wise Gerbtool works and it looks like the latest ViewMate (11.10.63, Free version) doesn't seem to work. Sorry for the confusion earlier

It was Xpedition VX.1 that allows the user to choose from ODB++ V7 or V8 when exporting. As you say Jeff, it was Valor NPI V9.4 that started to support V8 as well as V7.
Ideally the Valor NPI version should be upgraded, otherwise when exporting ODB++ Xpedition, select V7 in the settings window.
Thanks for that bit of information. We have our outputs so automated that I didn't even realize that they added that switch when we moved to VX.1.2 a few months ago. I guess the default settings on our automation dropped us back to version 7, so we will have to get that fixed before our test guys start asking where the test point data went to . Again, thanks for the heads up!!

Is anyone still having issues with Viewmate viewing version 8 ODB++ files generated out of VX.2.4? Seems to be reading version 7.0 just fine
which version of Viewmate? Looking at the release notes online, it appears that V11.14.1 from June 2018 is the one that supports ODB++ V8.
If there are particular constructs that Viewmate cannot import, then it could be worth mentioning it to them so that they can improve their importer. If Pentalogix are members of the ODB++ Alliance then they will have access to the specification.
If you are using V8 to ensure that new technology information is available in the ODB++ file (back-drilling etc), please note that V7 may not give you all the information that you require, or it may not be as useful as it could be.
Finally, as a good check, use the latest free of charge ODB++ Viewer from the Solutions Alliance website to check that your ODB++ V8 is correct and viewable.
It is version 11.14.17, I just downloaded it this morning. I was debugging an issue from an engineer in another division who said they couldn't open my ODB file with Viewmate. It opens fine in Gerbtool. I did send something to their support team
The purchased version of ViewMate Deluxe has problems opening ODB++ for me. But the free ViewMate viewer will open .tgz files the Deluxe will not.
