A simple ? how do I export a complete netlist from dxdesigner vx 2.1 into pads 9.5
I have not created the schematic but on the cover page or page 1 there are Composites created titled as Drivers, Switches, Power band etc... when you do a right mouse button click on them the 6th selection down in the pop up window is called PUSH when you click on PUSH it takes you to the page with the logic behind the tittle. It is a hierarchical function that also enables you to make changes in one section of the schematic and anything related to the change you make gets updated in the rest of the schematic
Setup Settings Project,
Layout Tool PADS VX
Use custom configuration file C:\MentorGraphics\EEVX.2.1\SDD_HOME\standard\pads95.cfg
Then Tools, PCB Interface
Hey Mr. Gary
When I go into Setup Settings Project, I don’t see a Layout Tool PADS VX option or tittle
Here is what I see
Under Setup > Settings > Project - I do not see = Layout Tool PADS VX
And the path to the cfg file I have is C:\MentorGraphics\PADSVX.2.1\SDD_HOME\standard\pads95.cfg
Or am I not seeing what I am upposed to being seeing
Then Tools, PCB Interface

The reason you are not seeing the interface that Gary is referring to is because you have created an 'Integrated' project that uses the central library. This type of project is fully integrated with PADS layout but only the same version as the schematic - so you can only go to PADS VX.2.1 layout.
In order to do what you require you need to use the 'Netlist' project type - this uses the PCB Interface to generate the necessary files and can be used to generate a PADS 9.5 format netlist. The integrated project flow does not require this step, the data required for layout is created directly inside the layout tool.
What ever happened to the Ascii out feature, That feature made so simple to study a netlist and made it so easy to import the netlist into different layout softwares. I have been using PADS software since 88. Been through PADS PCB, PADS PERFORM, PADS WORK, PADS 2000, PADS POWERPCB along with different schematic capture softwares such as Schema, Orcad, PADS Logic, View Draw and couple others, this Mentor Schematic Capture software seems to be the least PADS User friendly software. Instead of making progress by adding better features to it there taking away some great feautures from it. (that’s Boo Boo Yogi)
If you create a netlist project then the .asc file is created via the PCB Interface, if you choose an integrated project then the interface between layout and schematic is much more tightly controlled, no need to pass ascii files during FA/BA. It is deliberate.
Mr. Davis I greatly appreciate your time.
How do I feed a complete netlist from Dxdesigner VX 2.1 into new PADS 9.5 layout application.
This is the original problem that I am haveing
Create a new project, this time choose Netlist. Copy the original schematics from the integrated project to the netlist project. Then it is the same as your previous experience.
Mr. Davis how do I Copy the original schematics from the integrated project to the netlist project.
Below you had told me to do this but I have no idea where DXdesigner VX 2.1 stores its schematics
TechNote mg520130 details copying sheets, schematic or complete projects.
Thanks hopefully TechNote mg520130 will bring me some aid. Is there any possible way for me to update
is I have 2 schematics one has the push feature active and the other on does not. The problem is the schematic that does not have the push feature active has been modified to the current pcb design, But the one with the push feature has fallen behind. Is there any way to automatically update the schematic with the push feature by feeding the updated netlist from the schematic that does not have the push capability or d0 I have to do the update manually.
What do you mean by "push feature"?
I am also trying to back annotate the updated layout to the schematic with the PUSH feature but my PCB Interface tab is not lit up, Is that an extra option that I have to pay extra for?
This thread about Push has been branched to here, please stick to one topic per thread Push schematic not active
