I've seen this issue recently, there are some CentOS kernels that cause this problem.
My CentOS 7 version, does not cause this problem - I'm using this kernel : 3.10.0-229.el7.x86_64.
The workaround is either to switch to a different kernel or to increase the thread stack size of the JVM using -Xss2m.

I did a kernel update and it started working. I'm on kernel : 3.10.0-514.26.2.el7.x86_64
