I get a text box saying "An unknown error occurred while accessing
when I try to save a project.
The folder location has these .tmp file in it O.K.

I am not exactly sure, why it is looking at the path you mentioned above without actually looking at a test case. I think the first step at addressing this error should be making sure your paths are setup correctly. Those are defined at Setup -> Options -> Paths. Avoid cache and temp folders in the paths.

The paths are different. The parent settings are in C:\users etc
The local model are for the IBIS models I have downloaded.
Why is HyperLynx trying to verify a .tmp file, it saves it o.k. I can see then in the directory with file manager!
Your paths setup seems ok, does the error persist if you close out of the session? If yes, I would be happy to have a chat with you and do a quick webex and see what could the possible issue be.
Yes it is persistent, I first tried to save yesterday when this happened, since then that application has beet closed and the PC shut down and restarted today. This morning I ran a new session of HyperLynx and reloaded the files, then I tried to save the project again, the result is the same. I do not want to do much more without being able to save the project.

I have just closed the app and re started it running as administrator, I also move the project file to the C: drive with a shorter local path. This now appears to run and save the project without issue. I did try to run as administrator yesterday with the same results. It would appear that the project needs to be in the same drive as the application and run as administrator.
I have had issues on another machine after an automatic update from Microsoft that needed me to run applications as administrator to save file properly!!!!!!!!!

Also, could this could be a permission issue, could you try running the tool with admin rights.
