What Happened If PTC Acquires Allegro Assert From Cadence?

Allegro assert's value be in 350M-400M$.  If Cadence considers to sell this assert, PTC maybe the best buyer. Allegro complements to PTC's Wildfire well, and help PTC to provide a full solution to Electronics industry.

If this acquirement happened, what will happed?

As a Mentor employee, it's probably not appropriate to comment on this directly.

I can however point to history (because I'm old enough sorry to say) when there were companies who offered both mechanical and PCB design systems - Intergraph, Computervision, Applicon come to mind. None of these companies were successful and eventually were broken up, acquired or products simply disappeared. My opinion is that MCAD and PCB design are 2 different market segments with different needs, and it's difficult to be as focused (and successful) when competing against companies who only serve MCAD or only serve PCB.
