I want to edit the databook tables I have (Excel format) directlñy from the central library but it always shows "(read only)".
Does anyone know how to open the databook from Central Library so I can edit it?
Make sure your ODBC settings allows editting of the database. If it is set as Read-Only you won't be able to
edit DxDatabook values from within the Library Manager.
After unchecking the Read only checkbox in ODBC connection configuration I get the following error message:
"Error during ODBC Excel controller conexion: The Microsoft Jet database motor can´t open the file '(unknown)'. It is open in exclusive mode by other user..."
I am not sure how this works for an Excel file, we use MS Acces for DxDatabook and had a similar problem.
When someone opens the Acces database it want to write/update a lock file to keep track of whom is doing what on which table.
We had to make sure that every user can write in the directory where the database resides, so that the lockfile can be updated/written.
I assume you have a similar problem with the Excel file, but i do not know if there is a mechanism that allows you to open an excel file with more than one person.
Yes, I think it´s basically a problem on how the Central Library is managing the access to the Excel Databook using the ODBC connector...
Maybe this will help;
Hi, just checked this and the Exce file is already configured as to be shared...
