I want to simply reuse a project so I would need to:
- Change project name
- Change board name
- Change schematic name
- Change PCB
How to do this easily and maintain all the project properties intact?
First of all, here: https://support.mentor.com/en/knowledge-base/MG590868 in the
Second, as our project name has changed, special components and border *.ini files path must be changed in the Settings menu
I think this worked well:
- (Copy the project to a new folder)
- Rename the DxD project
- Rename the Layout file
- Open the new DxD project
- Open the Layout file and point it to the new DxD project in the ECO window (here's the trick - you can change from Layout -> DxD but you can't change from DxD -> Layout, as of VX.2.2)
I believe that is how I used to do it. This probably leaves a lot of clutter around of support files for the old filenames, so you might have some folder cleanup to do.
If the Schematic name is changed you wil get an error:
It seems there´s no way to rename the schematic and apply changes to the PCB.
In fact, after changing only Project Name and Board Name I have lost all the Special components links (input, output, bi ports, GND and Power ports also).
After adding them, once I restart the project they are lost again...
What to do here?
It looks like they might have broken it again since VX.2.2. You'll need to contact support. They should write this up on their support site so others know how to do this too.
And how can I deal with this?
