I am trying to create a complex shaped copper pour on a PCB for a ground plane.
I have a number of 2D shapes I've created and assigned as copper pours. These edges of these shapes touch. When I use the pour manager I sometimes get gaps in the copper between the,
Is there a way in PADS VX2 Layout to mere 2D shapes and create a complex copper pour shape ? Thus I only have one shape ? I can't find a way to do this.
I have thought of doing a copper pour for the entire layout and then multiple adding shapes for the plane area cut out this would be quite complicated for the design.
There is a copper shape merge function in VX.2.4 - and it actually works pretty well!
This function is not in VX.2.
I think it will be easiest to draw a single copper shape that follows all your existing copper shapes.
Maybe use to object snap function for easy alignment (if this exist in VX.2 - I am not sure)
