How do I go about converting our PADS Logic symbols and PADS layout decals to DxDesigner and PADS Pro?
I haven't found anything posted on here.
I'm getting rusty on DxD but I believe as soon as you translate a schematic from Logic to DxD you're going to have a folder full of symbols for DxD. Luckily Logic and DxD both use Layout, so your footprints are already done.
The next step is to define the parts in DxD Library tool to reintegrate the symbols and footprints. i believe DxD has a library importer that will take care of about 70% of this. Here's the process:
Select all parts in a Logic schematic
Save parts to a Library
[Select all decals/footprints in the Layout file
Save decals to a Library] - you might be able to skip this if Logic and DxD are already using the same libraries (.pd9, .pt9); Mentor recommends not doing this but I've had really good success doing it. The trick is know what you can and can't edit in each tool
Import Libraries to DxD
Clean up all the loose ends (that's the last 30%)
