    Stitching vias for GND shapes

    david_09

      Hi,

I am trying to stitch vias across a set of ground stripes.

The stitching process had first generated un-desired thermal spokes on the large shaped, but failed to generate vias on the thinner stripes. So, I checked "No Connect" for the "drilled thermal" in the "Therma" tab. I wasn't sure if that was the right way to do it.

Now PADS starts to generate stitching vias on the thin stripes. Nevertheless, it can only create vias on certain stripes, but won't generate vias on adjacent stripes, which I suspect was prevented by some clearance rules. But if do the stitching manually and turn on the DRC check, there is no clearance violation around the vias.

I have made sure the width of the stripes are greater than the via pad plus twice of the pad clearance.

Can you let me know if there are any things to check or change, to have PADS automatically generate the stitching vias?

      Thanks,

      David
