The problem is that HYT will give a very strange simulation result if setting MVF to nearly 1 wherfe the data including .hyp data. We have verified this symptom on many design, all having this symptom. However, it's ok if you don't import into .hyp data.
Just to clarify, inclusion of a .hyp file (in addition to the IDF files) provides HyperLynx Thermal with all the copper information for the board (including planes and traces) allowing for automatic calculation of the volume fraction of metal (MVF) of the board. Note that the copper data changes the MVF per analysis cell, as opposed to having one MVF to represent the whole board. This improves the accuracy of your simulation.
es, basically we undstand it's value to better accuracy. But there are something wrong in HYT program. You may check my sample data on your side. When you set MVF to nearly 1 to the data with .hyp data , HYT should give a very strange result. It's unbelievble.
