Changes to design revisions only occur when we have to make changes to the underlying database structures. This should become less of an issue as the tools mature. In general we are always forward compatible, that is old designs will open in newer software, but we do not guarantee backward compatibility.
A V9.2 user needs to open DxDesigner schematics drawn in V9.4. Is it possible to export the schematics (a sheet at a time is fine) in some format such as ASCII from V9.4 and import it on V9.2? Not everyone has upgraded their program to newer version at the same time. I know how to saveAs ASCII in PADS. I could not find such feature in DxDesigner.

Basically you are correct. Upgrades must be performed in sync between all group members for a smooth collaboration.
Hope this helps you.
The answer is no, once migrated forward you cannot go back to an earlier version, the only option would be to export EDIF.
