Has anyone figured out how to modify the shortcut commands for things like "X Mirror", "Y Mirror", or "Rotate"?
In DxDesigner, PADS Logic, or PADS Layout?
For DxDesigner and the PADS flow, copy from the Mentor SDD_HOME\standard directory to your wdir directory the file "vdbindings.vbs" and edit with a text editor.
With the Expedition flow this file is named, exped_pv.vbs or exped_wvo.vbs
Restart DxDesigner. DxDesigner will use the first file it sees in the WDIR path.
In PADS Logic as you adding symbol, click on RMB (right mouse button) and it will give you Mirror X and Y options. Also you can use your keyboard to type 'Ctrl + F', etc... (see attachment).
I'm trying to find a way to customize these commands, like I did with PADS2005. Using the RMB requires that I move my pointer away from the point of interest to select something from a menu. If I do that 10,000 times a day, the wasted time adds up. Using my left hand for commands, and my right hand for mouse control, on the other hand, allows me to operate twice as fast. I know I could use Ctrl-X, or Ctrl-Y, or Ctrl-R for these commands, but these require the use of the Ctrl key, which isn't easy to do with one hand. It usually begins to hurt after a couple of hours, and takes longer than just assigning a single key ( X, Y, or R). I've been able to update most of the other commands, like Move, Zoom, and Zoom Extents, to a single keystroke using the Customize feature in the dropdown menu. However, Rotate, X Mirror, and Y Mirror do not show up as customizable options. Do you have any other ideas?
I'm using Logic. I backed up the original vdbindings.vbs then updated a few of the commands with my own, as instructed. Specifically,
Bindings("Schematic").AddKeyBinding "Ctrl+F", "Mirror", Menu, Key
Bindings("Schematic").AddKeyBinding "Ctrl+Shift+F", "Flip", Menu, Key
Bindings("Schematic").AddKeyBinding "x", "Mirror", Menu, Key
Bindings("Schematic").AddKeyBinding "y", "Flip", Menu, Key
I saved the modified .vbs in the /standard directory, then restarted Logic and tested. The changes had no effect. Am I modifying the wrong .vbs file?
See Yan's reply for PADS Logic. My reply was exclusively for DxDesigner
You may consider creating a macro for this commands. Another option you can explore is Tools - Customize.
