Something that I have found very useful for a Hyperlinked Document in DxDatabook or a Component is to link to a MS Word Doc or a PDF of an MS Word Doc.
Within this document, I can add as many hyperlinked documents for multiple manufacturers, app notes, and even screen shots as necessary. It works nicely to create a more advanced datasheet link.
Thanks! I did that before it it did not seem to work. I just tried again and saw it does in fact work! User error! I just made another property LOCALDATASHEET and put another URL in there and sure enough, I now have 2 hyperlinks in there.
I noticed while making a training video that this information was missing from the help and filed a request to add the information. Multiple links are supported, and John Dube gave the essential information.
There are some customers (and myself) where PDF's were not launching, this is due to a conflict in the registered viewer for the PDF. Reregistering the PDF viewer program with your OS should resolve the issue.
How can I refer to a file in the project directory without specifying the full path?
DxDesigner will expand environment variables before opening the hyperlink, so you can either use a custom variable name, or the pre-defined CURRENT_PROJECT_PATH that is defined within the DxDesigner process.
For example, add a property with the value file://%CURRENT_PROJECT_PATH%/filename.txt
Thank you John!!!
