In Options - Design - select in Move preference radio button Move by cursor location. This selection will not jump after you select a group.
1. Select a group
2. CTRL+E on your keyboard
3. SR and type new location for X and Y. Mind you SR in modeless command and it will mode relative to your cursor location.
4. Space Bar on your keyboard. This will release the group in new location - do not touch your mouse!
Make sure if you use snap Grid, it correspond to your X and Y numbers. Otherwise Options - Grids uncheck Snap to grid.
It isn't easy. Here is how I work around that:
Select the group.
Type 's 0 0' to move your cursor to the origin.
Type <ctrl-E> to start the move. The 'origin' of the group will now be at (0,0). You can use this as a reference for the real move.
There are other variants on this trick.
I forgot about Yan's approach. I like that one even better.
I'm not sure what the SR is.. Plus, I 'm not sure how much X or Y I want to move. BUT, using CTRL+E does reposition the cursor where I have it and makes it much easier to move a group. So, thanks!
