How do you populate the 'additional notes' field within the connector views report?
Report is generated using Manufacturing Reports - harness tools - connector views.
To add the 'additional notes' column, within Manufacturing Reports - options - General Reports - extra note field must be checked.
Where does the data that populates this field come from?
I would like to be able to use it for expected contact voltage levels, but I can not find the source.
Does anyone know where this field pulls from?
Thank you for all input. ![]()
Yes, that is the box which add the column to the report.
1. Can this field be auto-populated from the information within the harness? Or from anywhere else?
2. Why are the signal names not a part of this report? Only the ID tag is.
3. What is the purpose of the wire option?
4. In the report a picture of each connector is displayed from some location, how do you define the location?
I would like to be able to use this report to communicate with manufacturing.
Q2. Why are the signal names not a part of this report? Only the ID tag is.
A2. The signal names were typically used to describe the function of the wire and so not normally required by the Wire Harness Manufacturer whereas the Ident Tags are the labels that would typically be put onto the wires hence why these can be displayed on the reports.
If you are using VeSys Design it is possible to pass the Signal name over as an Ident tag when the wires are sent to a Harness. To do this goto the Design Tools > Design Options > Wires and select "Use Signal Name as Ident Tag" (see below).
If you aren't using VeSys Design you could send me the DSI file, I have a tool that can move data between the different Wire Properties.
Q3. What is the purpose of the wire option?
A3. This is for composite harness drawing or in English a harness drawing that contains multiple harnesses for different variants, for example a vehicle may have 5 different harnesses for each trim level and rather than have seperate drawings you have 1 drawing which shows all possible options.
Hope this helps.
Can anyone tell me from where in VeSys the extra note field is populated?
Is it something that can be used?
Hi William,
I managed to ask engineering and they verified that this field is not populated by VeSys Classic, it is included for any manual notes you may wish to add (if you open the HTML report in Excel you can insert text into these cells).
Thanks,
Nuri
Can you tell me if in Vesys 2.0 this field is auto-populated?
Thanks for your help Nuri!
With VeSys 2.0 the reports are fully customisable, you can include any design object attribute or property, and if needed it can select properties from the library also.
Therefore in VeSys 2.0 if you had a "note" property that can get included without much difficulty.
Thanks,
Nuri
As Nuri has already mentioned the field is never populated by VeSys.
Originally we had planned that any notes applied to components could be passed through to the reports into this field, the development of VeSys stopped before this feature could be fully implemented.
