Upgrading to PADS9.4: powerpcb.exe - system error - xf_Os.dll is missing

Hi There,

We are having an issue after upgrading one of our computers to PADS9.4 - the first problem we have seen in 4 or 5 computers now. When we go to try to start up the PADS tool after updating we get the following error:

powerpcb.exe - system error - xf_Os.dll is missing from your computer.

Can anyone let me know how to fix this please, or even what it means? It is the first time I am seeing this. I have searched high and low and have been able to find nothing on this issue.

We've run the MGC configurator, I believe that is what it is called, where we select 9.4 as our default version and have followed all the proper steps for install. From what I understand DxDesigner opens fine but we are unable to open the PADS layout tool. However, I am double checking this now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time

Hi Ekko,

These sorts of errors are most often caused by problems with your environment variables or registry entries.

You could take a look through your environment variables  - both the user and system tables - and remove any references to older PADS versions. After that, re-run the Configurator.exe that is under the "win32" sub-directory in your PADS 9.4 installation. If that doesn't work, you should open a Service Request on SupportNet.

Also, here are some links to some Communities Docs that may come in handy:

Good luck!

Cheers,

Andrew
