Automatic assignment of diff pairs for electrical nets

Hello All,

In Constraint editor CES you have the possibility to use "Auto Assign Differential Pairs" to simplify the search of nets to be assigned as diff pairs.

So I start it and search for *_P and *_N

Nothing found. That is amazing, as during design I am sure I have put some diff pairs named nets

After hours of searching for the answer I type  *_P* and *_N*. And presto all electrical nets are here:

To make it even more confusing, I decide to search for *_P^^^^ and *_N^^^ and suddenly even more nets show up

So now I am officially confused.

Question:

Why do electrical nets need to be searched with ^^^ or with a * at the end to be recognized?

- I would have expected them to be labeled with ^^^ only by the system for logical reason only and a search would not need to be linked with ^^^.

- What is more confusing is why do I find a different set of nets when I search with ^^^ as opposed to when I search with * at the end?

Has anyone a good explanation of this behavior?

Thanks

  Matija
