2. Re: Report Writer problem on VX1
MaBUa Feb 19, 2015 5:37 AM (in response to yu.yanfeng)I have the same problem... What is the correct method to add the Report Writer to X64 installation? (I'd like to use the Report Writer in VX1 too and not to have to switch to my next installation EE7.9.4 x86)
Is possible to describe it here please?
Many thanks

3. Re: Report Writer problem on VX1
franco.ochrim Feb 19, 2015 6:18 AM (in response to franco.ochrim)I discovered that actually Report Writer does not work with 64-bit.
I had to install the 32-bit version to use Report Writer.

bbpcbdesign Feb 19, 2015 6:20 AM (in response to MaBUa)Hi Martin,
according with Mentor documentation, you must install Addons ( 32bit ) in a different folder than VX.1 64bit.
At this point inside VX.1 you can create the mdc database and then with Start | Programs | Xpedition Enterprise VX.1 (32bit) | xPCB Report Writer VX.1, run RW and open the saved database.

bbpcbdesign Feb 19, 2015 6:23 AM (in response to bbpcbdesign)Hi,
for example VX.1 could be installed under C:\MentorGraphics and Addons under C:\MentorGraphics32

6. Re: Report Writer problem on VX1
franco.ochrim Feb 19, 2015 6:44 AM (in response to franco.ochrim)I installed the addon (32-bit) but it does not work.
By launching the Report Writer from VX1 64bit it creates the folder vbreport with output and works.
The problem is that it does not create the file VBPCBP.mdc within the folder output.

bbpcbdesign Feb 19, 2015 7:00 AM (in response to franco.ochrim)Hi,
VX.1 should display a message with info about succesfully export and folder where it writes data.
Once opened 32 bit RW, have try "Import data..."?

Wim Creyghton Apr 24, 2015 12:31 AM (in response to franco.ochrim)1 of 1 people found this helpfulIt is a know problem. Report Writer is 32 bit will not Autostart within VX.1 64 bit.
If you install everything under 32 bit Report Writer is working like before.
See Technote MG588629
Mentor say's that you only should install 64 bit if you are using it for very large and complex boards.
Normally 32 bit good enough.
