Hi Patrick – did you not see my response found at the bottom of page 1 of the thread? I had some confusion about something I noticed In one of your images, but also described my experience and how the functionality behaved for me.

Maybe this is what you guys need:

            Extended Filter Options

This is helpful, but unfortunately I am familiar with those limited searches.  The original poster could use some, but I think wanted the ability to look at multiple categories with sorting at the same time.  In addition to that, there are other limitations that make the Ideas site highly unusable.

-You cannot filter on what you have or have not voted on.  More voting requires more manual sorting, so the more active you are, the less usable the site is.

-It is not possible to filter out only some categories like Archived or Out of Scope at the same time, so the alternative is do 6 unique filters on independent pages and view content separately in a highly fragmented and time consuming fashion.

-It is not possible to filter on activity or authors by people you follow.

-It is not possible to filter on activity or authors by people at your site.

-It is very difficult and highly manual to find posts from 4 weeks to 6 years ago that have 3 to 30 votes because they do not come up in any basic sorting or filtering by score or time.  This means either you idea takes traction within a very limited time frame or it is effectively buried and only found by the most ambitious community users regardless of content.  This also provides misinformation to other users and to Mentor about whether something is really valuable because it is really communicating how hard the Ideas site is to use.

If you have any solutions to these problems, I would be interested.  I feel like they are site limitations until I learn otherwise.

Now I got what you mean. And I totally agree!

Especially filtering on which ideas you already voted and on which not...

I will investigate and let you know any feedback.

Maybe there is something we can do.

But I am also afraid that we have to deal with site limitations

I don't know if it would be more appropriate to add some of these comments elsewhere.  This thread has gone through the original issue and a weird sorting bug already at this point.

That said, you were here today and a Mentor representative has been active on this thread.

Joseph - I appreciate your list very much. And Philipp, i appreciate your efforts and participation on this topic (and the communities in general) very much, too. The truth of the matter is, yes, there are limitations to the ideation functionality of the communities platform we are using. Unfortunately, I don't have a timeline on when/if any improvements will be implemented. This is not a new issue for us; we have our own list of enhancements we would like to see. The best I can tell you is that I will check with the vendor to see what investments we might be able to expect from them in the new year.

                      Thanks for the update.

I think I commented on this earlier in this post or elsewhere on this site, but an Ideas site for the Ideas site itself would be a useful addition.  Also, I am not sure if Service Requests can be entered on Support Center.  Having both of those features would make a more unified experience for discussing issues with the Ideas platform, and I do not believe that would require any changes from 3rd party software vendors.

Thanks, Joseph. I will keep your ‘ideas site for the ideas site’ in mind. We are looking at some other potential changes, so will see how this might fit in.

And yes: SRs can definitely be entered on Support Center. Here is the link: https://support.mentor.com/en/service-request/open. But in case you are considering submitting an SR on SC about this topic, the Communities are the more appropriate channel. An SR on that would just work its way to me, anyway. However, if your SR pertains to a product issue then yes, by all means submit an SR.

if any of you have suggestions for the Ideas sites or questions about it in general, feel free to continue to post here in Member Help, or in this area of the Ideas sites.

                          thanks.
