How can I get a list which contain all the information about part number and description about the centre library?
Do you have an automation license? This is the way.
I don't know, the license is supplied by server. How can I check the linsence?
Let's try use my script:
- open your library in library manager
- open my script ( FILE -> Open Script Form)
- browse it (LMC_properties.efm)
Output file is an ASCII and located in C:\temp\X_properties_all.txt
Hope it helps you
Martin, thank you very much at first!!
I had try the way you mention, but the file don't contain the information about description.
did you checked the "Properties Value" check box?
Seems not try it.
I have checked it and there are no any information about description in the library.
So the part number is the only one I can get.
TKS & Best Regards

it is strange... it work to me... Which version of library manager you use?
Can you create a new library (lmc) file with one or two parts which contains some properties and send it to me to be able to test it?
The MEE version is 7.9.2
When I click "open script form…" and choose the file which you send to me, there is a window with error
I click "Continue", and program named "Library Consistency Checker" will be running,
I click "Pats Export", and a file named "X_properties_all.txt" will be created by C:\temp
You can see the result by attachment.
I will try to creat a new LMC, and run it again, thanks!

If I click "Used Properties" in "Library Consistency Checker" , a window shows blew:
Good morning guangping,
the CDate: - I display a system time in my script.. seems your system has different setting or something like this (I commented all the lines in my script with CDate..download it)
The message in window you got back after pushing the "Used Properties" is very important.
Seems you don't have in your "Property definition" the last 2 property. It happens e.g.. you copy or import a part from external source (library, file)
Never mind - define the last two property into it..se my picture.
thanks for the script, as a first entry point, but one question,
where can I find information/documentation about available
VB. Objects, Methods & Properties ?
Thanks in advance
all I have is only help in Mentor Graphics instalation. - automation
The Advanced Library Editor can export a lot of the information from the central library.
You can find it at the migration community at:
I have run the program, but I don'e find any information about description , you can see the attchments about the location and result files, thanks!
Is the Advanced Library Editor a Windows-Only application or does it exist for all platforms that Mentor supports? If so, where can that be found. If not, when can we expect it?
Cool script! But .... I can't change the efm-File in an editor. Have someone a library script, that includes part-heights and some other stuff?
1. Open your library (*.lmc)
2. File>PDF Output
The following files are generated (look for these files in the Output folder):
I believe all library information is contained somewhere in these files.
Here's an example from the Cell.pdf I generated from a test library (the image may not show completely - click to get the full image)
I just use Report Writer. Works well if you are familiar with how it works.
Open Report Writer. File > Extract Data > Central Library. File Open Database navigate to the VBReport\Output folder and select the MDL file you just created. Setup your query/joins and execute.
Reportwriter .... thats a cool way to get any information, I want !
