Take a look at the following technote, splices in VeSys 2.0 don't really have directions (the cavities are L and R but you should not consider that as LEFT and RIGHT in relation to the harness layout). The technote describes how the L cavity is selected when splices are balanced.

Oh, that's a shame. Looks like I'll have to do them manually from now on then.
An alternative way to display the wires entering a splice is to make a functional symbol. that will show when a wire is on the left or the right,

set that symbol as your defult splice symbol,
I dont like the look of the defult one and it uses up to much space on the drawing so i created my own to display the information neatly.
