1 invoke librarymanager and create a new central libary
2 click menu file-> import symbols, select all symbol files for importing
3 invoke symbol editor in library manager
4 click menu file -> open, select all symbols to open all at once
I am using DxDesigner pads netlist flow, guess I should have mentioned that sooner. So no Libary Manager.
Any other ideas?
NSE supports both Pads and XpeditionPCB flow. I suppose following procedures is valid to your pads flow:
1 create a faked central libary tree like below
D:\demo\demo.lmc (just create a new null file and rename to demo.lmc )
D:\demo\SymbolLibs\demo_lib\sym(where put your all symbol files under the directory)
invoke nse.exe using command line to force it in central library mode:
nse -lmc D:\demo\SymbolLibs -Parent flm Partition demo_lib
BTW, I don't think it's helpful to your work that letting NSE in pads flow be able to open mutiple files at once.
Thanks for your help.
I'll give it a try.
I reccomend against invoking the symbol editor from the command line for several reasons the primary two are:
- Your property definitions will be missing.
- There is no pin number column displayed making it hard to add/modify pins.
A third reason is that it really isn't supported, it was designed to be launched from either a project (DxDesigner) or from a Central Library (Library Manager).
Having the option to open multiple symbols is probably a good (time/click saving) idea, please visit the Ideas site and voice your opinion.
