When i run the pin mapping tool i can't create a pin mapping since the right part of the panel is empty without the pin list of the new part:
in the original post of michelemencarelli, you see below the red circled buttons, the word slot and " 1", that indicates that he is using Databook to do the change of part.
We have verified that if you use Databook you will get this error. IF you use the new search then you will not get this error, but using the new search you can not put the slot of the component.
And this error was introduced with vx2.5, not vx2.6 as said in my previews post.
Support Case #3466009951
Defect Report|DR #01375479
Still an open defect in vx2.6 and presumably will not be fixed my Mentor.
I have no info if it will be/has been fixed in vx2.7, but due to operation system incompatibility we are unable to install vx2.7 yet.
[ Remember the endless discussions and pleas to fix the link and net name showing/disappearing? Sounds like that. ]
there's the "!" sign next to "pin mapping"
did you select the part to be swapped to ?
as far as we know, this is a bug that was introduced with version 2.6 and it has not been addressed yet.
I don't seem to have this problem. Maybe that part have something special
This was an issue with dragging a part from Databook, if you typed in the part number or used Search it worked as expected. The defect was fixed in VX.2.7 and VX.2.6 Update 8 for Xpedition. The equivalent fix for PADS Pro is working its way through our process.
Reading the release note of EE 2.6 Upd6 it was not clear that it was fixed.
It reported only a fix in Library Manger, and nothing else.
Probably the release note should be more accurate on what all is fixed.
Problems Fixed in X-ENTP VX.2.6 Update 6
dts0101405462 -Length field in Line Properties window in Padstack Editor is empty and actively blanked out
Problems Fixed in X-ENTP VX.2.6 Update 5
thanks for clarifying this
My mistake this should be Update 8.
I see it now
dts0101375479-No pins available to map if replacing part comes from Databook
Time to upgrade :-)
The same fix will be available in PADS Pro Update 8 and PADS Update 7 due in July.
Did you try with any update from 2.6? I have 2.6 update 5, and I do see slot (though I don't know how to force a specific slot yet ...) . Maybe they have fixed in subsequent update for 2.6.
This is only an issue if you drag the part from Databook (fixed in VX.2.7 and being back ported to PADS Pro VX.2.6), if you use 'Search' instead (Ctrl+F) to find the replacement part and use the context menu - Replacement then the pin information is correctly added.
