We installed VX.2.7 last week.
Problem: The Report Writer Dialog will not open after click on ok.
Instead it generates many of files in the folder blablabla\PCB\vbreport\work\
Why the Dialog Box don't will open?
Correct me when i am wrong, but as far as i know Report Writer is a 32bit application and was only included in the 32bit versions of VX.
The new version only comes in 64bits, so No Report Writer. All 64bit VX only generates the files.
You available to generate some reports (physical board&electrical route data) from Xpedition Layout Output-->Report Writer menu.
To run RW GUI you need run Report Writer from Windows menu (just type Report in windows search) or run from install directory C:\MentorGraphics\EEVX.2.7\SDD_HOME\common\win32\bin\vbreport.exe
It turned out that starting with VX2.6, Report Writer is included in the 64bit installation.
The "Output->Report Writer" command only generates the files. You have to start Report Writer as a
Thank you for the Inputs.
That's a shame, so I can call the GUI outside of the application, but not within the application. That's a shame. We have written our own application that can be started from the ReportWriter. Our application can get the necessary information about the board from the current session. Now I have to start the ReportWriter outside of Xpedition and also our application. It was complicated before, but now it's getting more complicated. With our application we generate placement data for our placement machines.I would like to have a button in the Xpedition that I can click on and that generates the assembly data of all variants for the SMD assembly and the parts lists of all variants.Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with scripts and I also do not know how to get the data out. The main thing is that I need an assembly file for every variant in the project.Well, I'm going to stop at this point now. I don't know how you do it, but somehow it will work.
To generate Variants outputs you need to use Variant Manager.
I hardly believe that the Variant Manager can be used for this. The only thing that bothers me about Xpedition is that you cannot make clever outputs for the assembly (parts lists and assembly data of variants) and that the components on the bottom have incorrect information about the rotation.
Variant Manager Available to generate Variant's BOM, Variant's Assembly, Variant's schematic
Part Lister also availablae to generate Variant's Part List
Do you work with the Variant Manager or do you only know this theoretically?
I’m working with variant manager
Ok so you are a lucky man ;-)
Please make a video how to work with this manager.
It should generate following
RefDes | part no | part label | case or footprint | Position X | Position Y | Rotation | TOP or BOTTOM
Is this possible?
You are talking about modified pick&place file.
Standard Pick&place file you can generate from Layout File--Export-->General Interfaces-->AIS
If you need to modify this file you can use AIS.vbs that included in install directory and use it when you generate variant view in Variant Manager.
