Whay would you want to do that?
Mostly because it is quick, error free and painless - at least in OrCAD. Since the functionality is supposedly offered in PADS now, I thought I'd try to incorporate it in new designs. I guess I'll just keep using the old method...
Can you provide a link to the suggested method? Maybe I can help.....
Hi George - thanks for your time. I sincerely appreciate it. The link refers to a supportnet site.
http://supportnet.mentor.com/reference/technotes/public/technote.cfm?tn=mg59829 is what I'd like to accomplish.
I apologize for sounding so critical, but this is really a silly issue. This functionality is something that OrCAD had back in DOS and Win95 versions. It is very handy and doesn't require a lot of manipulation to get a No Connect termination. Just click - drag to the pin and you're done.
Hmmm...I just noticed in the pin drop down menu of the symbol editor that there is a No Connect selection there as well.
Is there something I'm missing? I can't find the No Connect pin in the libraries...
Are you using DxDesigner as the front end? Is this where you're trying to add the pins? I'm afraid that's out of my range- I'm a Logic guy. I may not be much help after all.
All the best-
Well, I think it's still DxDesigner, but it's listed as the PADS 9.2 design flow...
I'm trying a different approach right now and if it works, I'll post about it.
Sorry if I misled you, George - Thanks for your efforts!
Not a problem. I made an assumption and you know what haopens when you assume.....
He He He...yeah...Thanks again!
I see you're asking about No Connect symbols for DxDesigner, this has been discussed on the Ideas site for DxDesigner:
Currently we only support No Connect symbols in the integrated Expedition PCB flow and No Connect signals are managed by the NC property in the netlist flow. See the Ideas post and notes for further details.
If you have further queries regarding DxDesigner then I would advise posting them in the Ask the DxDesigner Expert community as this will get you a quicker answer than posting in the PADS Design community.
Product Marketing Manager, DxDesigner.
So since I'm using PADS, I don't have the functionality of the No Connect symbols. Thanks for the clear answer. I didn't see that in the documentation so I figured it was available. My bad.
