Thanks for the reply. We recently acquired a new company that uses these two programs. I was just checking to see if there was anything available to facilitate file transfers between locations. At this point I don't know if it will be a file every once in a while or a ongoing series of files.
I don't know when they were added but the lastest release has the translators included. I only had to pull placement data fron the translation but it looked pretty clean.
I have both Altium AD6 & PADS 9.3 and have gone both ways, I have not tried the 99SE back & forth and not sure if you may want to actually brign it to AD6+ before
goign to PADS.
And otheres are correct ti does look pretty clean, however as with any translation between two CAD systems, it really
depends on what was done (maybe outside the box) in either tool that may cause problems, also plane data is always an issue,
also layer mapping etc is also an issue where the other tool does not have a means for that layer. So if you want the
design to come up and be liek all th eother designs you do in the translate to CAD tool there could be a bit of work involved.
Again it really does depend on what & how things were done in each tool.
Now could you take that translated design clean it up with minimum effort & be able to fab a board, probably yes.
It also will depend on what your plan on maintaining or not Decal/Footprint libraries would be.
