Symbol Value is <none>

I am in the evaluation phase in looking at Mentor DxD and PADS.  I have a schematic that I have imported into DxD V9.3.1.  I have attached PKG_TYPE properties to each of the symbols in the schematic and I see the decal in the Decal Preview window when I select symbols in the schematic.  The Property editor lists the correct PKG_TYPE but the details show, for example, Symbol Value is <none>, Block Value is ONSHORE_ED100/4DS.  When I try to generate a PCB I get lots of errors that I have decided are occurring because the Symbol Value is blank.

Short of editing every local symbol to assign a PKG_TYPE is there a way to push the Block Value to the Symbol Value?

I apologize if this is a trivial question -- I'm new to this package!
